1. Does my FLEOA membership include representation by Larry Berger?

No. Larry Berger is no longer affiliated with FLEOA in any capacity. To have him represent you, you must call 516-671-2688.

2. Can I maintain my FLEOA membership and also retain legal services from Mahon & Berger, Esqs.?

Yes, you can be a member of FLEOA and also separately retain Mahon & Berger, Esqs.

3. If Larry Berger was the attorney handling my case while he was affiliated with FLEOA, who will represent me now?

You have two options:

  1. You may contact FLEOA or Larry Berger to request that your case file be transferred to a current FLEOA attorney. In this case, Larry Berger will no longer be involved in your matter.

  2. Alternatively, you can contact our office to speak with Larry Berger to ensure he continues handling your case without any interruption.

4. What types of legal matters does Mahon & Berger, Esqs. handle?

We focus exclusively on employment-related legal services for all federal law enforcement officers, duly deputized task force officers and non-law enforcement officers.

5. What happens if I have an ongoing case with a FLEOA attorney and want to switch to Larry Berger?

You can request that your case file be transferred from FLEOA to Mahon & Berger, Esqs. You must then call our office at 516-671-2688 for assistance.

6. Is there a waiting period after I sign up before I can receive the benefits listed?

No. Legal benefits as described in this website begin immediately upon enrollment and payment, with no waiting period.

7. Will I still be covered if I change agencies or retire?

Coverage continues for 365 days from the date of enrollment, regardless of agency changes. However, certain services may not apply after retirement; contact us for more details.

8. Can I speak directly with Larry Berger before signing up?

Yes. Please call our office at 516-671-2688.

9. What if I need legal help after hours or in an emergency?

We understand that urgent matters can arise. We are available 24/7 for any and all emergencies.  Emergency contact protocols will be provided upon enrollment.

10. Is the annual fee based on the calendar year?

No, the annual fee covers 365 days of work-related legal services starting from the date you enroll, not the calendar year.
